In the Navy

Where can you find pleasure
Search the world for treasure
Learn science technology
Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true
On the land or on the sea
Where can you learn to fly
Play in sports and skin dive
Study oceanography
Sign of for the big band
Or sit in the grandstand
When your team and others meet

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

Vince,

I bet you did not know that in 1979, the United States Navy considered using "In the Navy" in a recruiting advertising campaign on television and radio.

The US Navy contacted Belolo, who decided to give the rights for free on the condition that the Navy help them shoot the music video. Less than a month later, Village People arrived at the San Diego Naval base. The Navy provided them with a warship, several aircraft, and hundreds of Navy men.

The Navy later canceled the campaign.

Was the Cher video part of a Navy recruiting video???

I believe the Cher video was originally designed as a recruiting tool. Problem is - when tested, it made 35-50 year olds want to enlist, confused 55 and older, and scared the shit out of 18-25 year olds! One prospective recruit was hearding questioning: "Who is that dude?"
